Since our establishment in 2022, spearheaded by founder Alex Coates, the aim was to create a service which diverged from the DIY narrative sometimes associated when dealing with IKEA and create a fresh approach to the home renovation process. With our extensive experience in designing IKEA cabinetry and project managing the installation of their products, we felt it was important to provide quality and valuable design services and to share our knowledge of the renovation process with clients, when considering IKEA as a supplier of their cabinetry. The designs and information provided throughout the project, is then found to be a very detailed level, aiding to the streamlined renovation process for all involved, including trades such as builders, electricians, plumbers etc.

My name is Alex Coates
I’m the owner and founder of Burra Design so firstly, welcome. I am a passionate designer and creator who believes in the transformative power of exceptional interior spaces and have 12 years experience in the home renovation industry, both in Australia and the UK. During that time I have designed many different areas of the home such as kitchens, laundries, wardrobes, home offices and media storage areas for clients. 6 years of that time, I have gained experience project managing the installation of the IKEA cabinetry in clients homes, so have built up an overall understanding of the complete process involved from start to finish, whilst also gaining a very good understanding of electrical, plumbing, gas, tiling, rendering and gyprocking. This is invaluable in creating quality designs and also gives me the ability in guiding clients through the renovation process with complete confidence, as I realise that it can be stressful and overwhelming for some people.
